Petrified Forest & Painted Desert

We made it to Arizona today. Our goal was to visit the Painted Desert and the Petrified Forest National Park 100 miles east of Flagstaff. The temperature reached a warm 64° today with 15% humidity. The Painted Desert actually runs from the Grand Canyon into New Mexico. The petrified wood, located in the desert, is in a small section. Actually petrified wood can be found in all 50 states, but is found in a larger quantity in Arizona. The pictures here do not do justice to the vast panoramic views and the interesting topography we saw. The flower, and I don't know its name, is typical of blooms in the desert. The bloom is less than 1 inch in diameter.
